Our School
Located just 25 minutes northwest of Rockhampton, Ridgelands State School is nestled in a semi-rural community surrounded by beautiful gardens and spacious grounds. We provide a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment where students can enjoy the fresh air, expansive outdoor spaces, and the sense of belonging that helps them thrive.
Since opening its doors in 1924, Ridgelands State School has built a strong tradition of achievement. We recently celebrated our 100th anniversary, a milestone that reflects a century of dedication, growth, and success. Our students have gone on to excel in high schools, take on leadership roles, and pursue rewarding careers in fields such as forensic science, teaching, emergency services, nursing, and trades. Many have returned to the community as parents, enrolling their children and contributing to the school's enduring legacy.
With around 45 students from Prep to Year 6, our school offers a personalised and inclusive learning experience. The multi-age classroom structure promotes peer learning and interaction, supported by a dedicated team comprising the teaching Principal, a Prep to Year 2 teacher, and four experienced Teacher Aides. This approach helps create a focused, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that maximises each student's potential. Weekly lessons in physical education and music are delivered by visiting specialists, and Japanese is taught through interactive sessions provided by the Queensland Virtual Academy (QVA), ensuring access to high-quality education.
Our school thrives on the strength of its community. We value strong connections between staff, parents, and local organisations, which help create an enriching and supportive atmosphere for students. The Principal, who has been committed to Ridgelands State School for over six years and plans to stay long-term, is dedicated to fostering these partnerships and contributing to the school's ongoing growth.
The school is equipped with modern facilities, including a well-stocked library and resource centre, class laptops and iPads, a large multipurpose undercover area, open-plan classrooms, two separate playgrounds, a sports oval, a netball court, and a cricket pitch. The proactive P&C committee plays a vital role, running a weekly tuckshop, a uniform shop, and organising fundraising events that bring our school community together. Students are encouraged to take part in a variety of extracurricular activities, with a strong focus on our equestrian team, instrumental choir, and sporting teams.
At Ridgelands State School, we are committed to providing an environment where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. The school chaplain visits twice a week to offer pastoral care and promote student well-being. This dedication, along with the support of our passionate staff and engaged parents, embodies our school motto:
“We care.”
Welcome to Ridgelands State School—where every child is encouraged to grow into a confident, lifelong learner.
