Situated just 25 minutes North West of Rockhampton in a semi-rural community, Ridgelands State School is set amongst picturesque, natural gardens on acreage. Offering fresh air and wide open spaces for children to enjoy and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.

Founded in 1924, the school has a long history of success, with numerous past students excelling at their subsequent high schools, both public and private and attaining leadership roles. Many students achieved high Overall Position (OP) scores up to OP1 and have progressed to obtain fulfilling employment in a diversity of careers including-  Forensic Science, Teaching, Emergency Services, Nursing and the Trades, later becoming parents themselves, returning to enrol their children at Ridgelands State School.

A small, yet modern, progressive school, it currently caters for approximately 35 students from Prep to year 6. The multi-age classes are supported by dedicated professional staff of teaching Principal, Prep to Year 2 teacher and three Teacher Aides. The classroom dynamic enables interaction with students of different ages, to their mutual benefit. The smaller class size fosters a focussed, supportive, more individualised learning approach delivering positive student outcomes. Visiting specialty teachers deliver weekly lessons in physical education and music.  LOTE lessons in Japanese are delivered interactively via computer, through The Capricorn Distance Education teacher. The school’s 4 expectations of co-operation, acting responsibly, respect and excellence reflect our school motto and are reinforced through expectation and a strong disciplinary model.

The school provides excellent facilities. These include a modern, well equipped library and resource centre, computer lab, large multipurpose undercover area, open plan classrooms, 2 separate playground areas, sports oval, netball court and cricket pitch. The pro-active P&C provide a weekly tuckshop, uniform shop and cater at fundraising events. Extra-curricular activities are encouraged and great pride is taken in the equestrian team, musical, instrumental choir and sporting teams.

Each student is supported in an inclusive, nurturing, peaceful environment, enabling them to become happy, healthy children, who value their achievements and become lifelong learners. The school chaplain visits twice a week to offer pastoral care and support students. In partnership with committed staff, supportive parents and the broader community this positive spirit exemplifies the school motto

 'We care'.

Welcome.
