At Ridgelands State School we have high expectations for all of our students. Staff are committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment. Our aim is to foster a caring, cooperative environment where students are happy and optimal learning can take place. Our school behaviour code document outlines our schools’ expectations for student behaviour. Please take time to peruse this document and discuss our expectations with your child.
Ridgelands State School students, staff and community have agreed upon a set of four expectations that drive the success of our learning, teaching and ultimately the student’s academic achievement. These values provide structure for the students’ decision making processes in all areas of life not just the school context.
A proactive behaviour stance is taken by the school, to ensure that the school is providing the best educational setting possible with minimal impact caused by unacceptable behaviour. When problem behaviours do occur at Ridgelands State School they are dealt with in a manner that is fair and consistent to all students.
Our values
The school’s core values that structure the behaviour expectations at the school are:
C A R E- Co-operation, Act responsibly, Respect, Excel
With explicit understanding of what these values mean in a variety of contexts students are able to make informed decisions about their actions. Recognising positive behaviours, through constant teacher/student communication and our Ridgelands Redback Values Awards allow students and the community to applaud student success.
Learning occurs at its highest level when motivation, interest and high quality teaching are combined. At Ridgelands State School a positive and productive learning environment is maintained through setting clear expectations with consistent and clearly defined consequences for unacceptable behaviour. At all times the structures of the schools behaviour plan is aligned with Education Queensland’s Code of School Behaviour policy.

If you are unable to access, a copy is available from the school at any time and is included as part of the school’s induction pack for new families.
School wide we implement a consistent set of class and playground rules, with clear expectations and consequences. These rules are clearly defined and displayed in each classroom and around the school. They follow the key values of Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe.
